Deep roots lead to bountiful harvest.
Liberty Church was originally founded in 1969 as Liberty Assembly of God, at the old location of 1017 Highway 90 in Gautier. In 1991, Pastor David Watson preached and was voted in the very next week. Reluctant to answer the call because Liberty has been deemed a “troubled church” Pastor David refused. Months later, the Holy Spirit called stronger than any refusal or stereotype could resist.
Liberty Church is a church focused on the mission of Christ. Our efforts are intentional. The Gospel is the news the world needs to hear. Giving God all the glory He deserves and making His name known to the people.
The Seeds of Revival
From 1991 to 1999, the church experienced great growth in members and believers, with baptisms happening more often than the church had previously seen. Finally, the church facilities had reached capacity and a new plan for a new church was drawn up. In 1999, Liberty Church relocated to 4848 Gautier-Vancleave Rd in Gautier, boasting a 300 capacity sanctuary.
Sown deep into the church is a sense of revival. From 1999 to 2010, the church not only saw great growth in membership, but also in youth. In 2004, a need was realized for the children’s and youth and plans were drawn up for a 150 capacity sanctuary primarily for teenagers. Very quickly, that space was filled up.
Today, Liberty is experiencing yet another season of revival in the midst of a spiritual void in culture.
